at last, after a few days struggling with it, i'm done with my first case! yeay! i initially had a patient with meningitis, but when i went to her wards, she was no longer there. she has probably moved to another ward or has been discharged. i didnt bother to ask the nurse.and i decided to get a new patient. and it turned out, my new patient is more interesting than the one i had before. heh, i know , i know. we have to treat the patient as an individual, not to see just the disease alone.
my patient is a 70 year old lady.who initially came to the hospital with chest pain on the centre of her chest. she had both mitral&aortic valve replacement and from the X-ray, her heart is HUGE! she's been at the ward for about three weeks and later on she developed heart failure. such a nice lady. i actually enjoyed having a chat with her. ya know, i'll always thought that elderly patients going to be more difficult. i mean, in terms of understanding them speaking. most of them would only mumble which frustrates me sometimes as i couldnt get what they were saying. but that lady was great. i still get stuck during history taking. but i wouldnt worry much about that. i'll get more practice with seeing more patients. and quite a few of the doctors who have been teaching my group have been saying that "you will never see enough of patients". oh well, something like that..
and so far, all the teachers have been great! and i really love that hospital! all the staff have been great. heh, i'm talking as if this is my last week there. when in fact i still have 11 weeks to be spent there. hearing stories about doctors not turning up in another hospitals, i am kinda glad i was placed there. tak kesahla having to get back late in the afternoon when everybody else get half day everyday.
and oh, to dearest tasharina who used to be my deskmate during english in ms.irene class, happy 22nd birthday!!
