white coat is tradition

today was exceptionally long compared to other normal school days.

today i have grand ward round with Prof A and all other consultants and all other registrar and all JHOs and not to forget the senior nurse and the dieticians as well. Prof A is known to be a really brilliant endocrinologist and he's a bit old-school.which means every thursday, the day of grand ward round, doctors wear white coats. i turned my room uppside down yesterday night to find my white coat which i havent worn in years!

i was sweating buckets  #:-Sduring the ward round, expecting at any seconds when he was going to throw questions to us three final year student who were doing specialties attachment with the endocrine team. and i could feel myself palpitating when i was answering his questions. mind you, his questions were basic stuff like causes of Cushing's and management of thyroid CA and i managed to answer them okay, but you couldnt help it to feel all anxious and having your heart rate racing hundreds per minute!:-SS

then after the ward round's over, the whole entourage went down to seminar room for investigations teaching, basically intrepeting all the tests related to endocrine problems, pituitary hormone levels/synacthen test and whatnot. which i still having problem getting good grasp at.ergh!.#-o

then i had swine flu vaccination appointment in the afternoon. of all days, today it rained the most. and yes,i was soaking wet and freezing once i reached the occupational health centre. having so little experience of having any medical interventions on myself, today i got a little dose of what we doctors been putting patients into. i only had one i.m injection of Pandemrix on my left arm and now, a few hours after the jab.. i couldnt stop complaining of how sore my left arm is!it really is SORE!:(

ooh, then i had surgical tutorial at half 5 in the evening. it's already dark and i was initially didnt feel like going. but i dragged myself to go anyway and the reg ask the groupmates and I to split up and go see a few patients, present the case then we discussed about it. which took about an hour. short & sweet, just the way i like it.:D and S was sucha an angel for giving me and N lift home, so no worries of having to walk in the dark through dodgy streets to home.

then at half 7, was radiology teaching. neuroradiology was interesting.. then the musculoskeletal radiology was a bit dry. plus the exhaustion kicking in.(:| the lecture dragged up to about 930pm. and now at 1012pm, i'm flat on the bed. i should really read up on oesophageal cancer and cholangiocarcinoma,as i was totally clueless during the surgical tutorial, knew nothing about it when other people were throwing answers.*gasp*[-) tomorrow morning, promise! good thing dr.M teaching start at 11am tomorrow.

now, wasnt that such a long rant? i'm amazed you people read it all the way.:P
