i was up in the ward this morning, when i was supposed to be at the clinic. the clinic started too late, so i thought i'd better make use of the time. during ward round with Dr. Q, saw a couple of patients with asthma/bronchiolitis (so nothing interesting there..) then as we passed one cubicle, the reg and the consultant began whispering about one patient, and after a few hush words, they just walked passed her. eyebrows were raised between us the students.

it turned out, that wee girl was overdose on something and had some suicidal thoughts. at mere age of 13!!!!

what's the world has gone into??
i didnt know the full story, but it's a pity. to encounter such case and what's more to be in her shoes.
one more brownie point for paediatrics: the consultant didnt ignore you during ward round like you're a fly on the wall. they even let you write up in the notes and do discharge letter.

which we never really had the opportunity to whenever we followed other specialties' wardrounds. i was a bit overwhelmed with that tiny responsibility at first. haha. so instead of just one minute(which the consultant told how long it should take), we the students took almost 10-15 minutes to write up the discharge letter. scrabbling rapidly while continuing the ward round to the next patient and so on.
and then there were the tuesday club teaching at lunch time. we thought it'd be just a normal teaching, which gonna be quick.. but it turned out, there was A from a drug company giving presentation as well. see, whenever the reps from drug company do presentations to the medical staff, they always provide lunch.

and lotsa freebies too.

today's was no exception. and so we were muching the sandwiches happily while listening to her. and it didnt really matter if she talked for more than an hour.haha.
and i have spent the last hour or so in N's room talking nonsense when initially i just wanted to go to the kitchen to get some water to drink. hmm, where am i going with this?? well, the point is, it scares me sometimes how we are so much alike. it could not be possible!
i'm not yet sleepy but i'm gonna call it a day. teaching at half eight tomorrow a.m
gosh,that's just too early.when i'm so used to the 9 o'clock start.
